How to connect your QPlay account to your TVIP box
TVIP boxes are popular dedicated IPTV devices that work great with QPlay. There are two ways to connect — via M3U playlist or via Web Portal (MAG). We recommend M3U for the vast majority of users as it gives full flexibility to use the same account across multiple devices.
Before you start
Make sure the following is in order before you begin the configuration:
- The TVIP box is connected to the internet via WiFi or network cable
- Language and time zone are set on the box
- You have your QPlay credentials to hand — M3U link or Xtream details
Tips
Your M3U link and Xtream credentials can be found in your confirmation email or on your account page at qplay.tv.
Method 1 – M3U playlist (recommended)
M3U is the option we recommend. With M3U you can use your QPlay account on an unlimited number of devices and are not locked to a specific box.
Settings step by step
- Go to TV in the left menu on the TVIP box
- Configure the following:
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Stream Source | Multicast |
| MPEG-TS Buffering, msec | 5000 |
| DVR Storage | No storage |
| Timeshift Storage | Internal storage |
| Auto-timeshifting | Off |
| Content Source | M3U-playlist |
- Press "Setup M3U-playlist"
- Fill in the following:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| M3U URL | Your M3U link from QPlay |
| Playlist Name | QPlay |
- Press Apply
- Restart the box
When the box restarts your channel list will load automatically. You're now ready to start watching.
Method 2 – Web Portal / MAG
Web Portal is an alternative that works well but with one important limitation — your account becomes locked to that specific TVIP box and cannot be used on other devices such as a phone or tablet.
Varning
If you choose Web Portal (MAG) you must contact us and provide your box's MAC address for activation. The account cannot be used on other devices afterwards.
Settings step by step
- Go to TV in the menu and select Content Source: Web Portal
- Press "Setup Web Portal"
- Fill in the following:
| Field | What to enter |
|---|---|
| Portal URL | Contact us to receive this |
| Portal Name | QPlay |
| Portal Manager | Off |
| Use Web portal | Whole System |
| API Mode | GSTB |
- Press Apply
- Restart the box
M3U or Web Portal — which should I choose?
| M3U Playlist | Web Portal (MAG) | |
|---|---|---|
| Works on multiple devices | Yes | No |
| Requires MAC registration | No | Yes |
| Requires contacting support | No | Yes |
| Flexibility | High | Low |
| Recommended by QPlay | Yes | No |
Frequently asked questions
Why do you recommend M3U over Web Portal?
With M3U you can use the same QPlay account on your TVIP box, phone, tablet and computer without any restrictions. Web Portal locks the account to that specific box, making it harder to watch on other devices.
Can I switch from Web Portal to M3U later?
Yes. Go back to the TV settings, change Content Source to M3U-playlist and follow the steps above. Contact our support team if you need help with the switch.
The channels won't load after restarting — what do I do?
Check that the M3U link has been entered correctly without any extra spaces or characters. Also verify that the box has a working internet connection. A wired connection is preferable to WiFi for the most stable setup.
Which buffering and storage settings give the best results?
We recommend MPEG-TS Buffering set to 5000 msec, DVR Storage set to No storage and Auto-timeshifting turned off. These settings provide a stable streaming experience with minimal buffering.
Summary
- Use M3U playlist for full flexibility — the same account works on all your devices
- Use Web Portal (MAG) only if you exclusively want to use the TVIP box and are comfortable with the account being locked to it
- Set MPEG-TS Buffering to 5000 msec for the best stability
- Always restart the box after saving settings
